Bo nix visits with hawks

I'm starting to wonder if either Nix or Penix will be there at 16. Either way, I'd rather JS trade down and pick up a 2nd rounder in the process.

That's tempting... but it depends on who's available at 16.

I would love for the Seahawks to move down in the 1st AND get a 2nd round pick if a team wants to chase Nix or Penix. There's a reason why it's good for the Seahawks to have pro-visits with both guys even if it's all a smoke screen.

I wish that we would, for once, put some actual consistency into qb evaluation.

Of our five latest rookie qbs, three bounced to xfl/usfl, one got dismissed over domestic violence, and one makes his living solely off Russell Wilson.

Whereas the 9ers had Beathard (good for the Purdy pick), Mullens, Lance, and Purdy, whom Shanahan said he hoped initially could be like Mullens. The latter decision saved both Kyle and Johns collective asses.

All of our rookie QBs since RW were camp bodies, nothing more. They 9ers have been looking for a viable starter for years.

Both Mullens nor Purdy were qb3s. The difference is that neither was just ignored or neglected.

The 9ers have been searching for a reliable starting QB for close to a decade. Their young guys have been drafted/signed as potential starters and pushed into starting roles due to injuries. The Seahawks have only brought in young guys (mostly as UDFAs) to lead the scout team. They've been very stable at starter and backup QB for a long time.

The 9ers may have struck gold with Purdy (I'm not sold) but there is nothing about Beathard, Mullens or Lance to be envious about.

I’ll take Schneiders qb process over taking multiple shots and getting lucky on a 7th rounder.

They kept bringing in qbs even after they paid Garoppolo. They did it even as they overpaid in draft picks for Lance. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring someone in to compete with Brandon Allen for the qb3.

And what do they have to show for it?

Nothing, no hardware. None of their 4000 qb’s have been better than our 2 starters in that time span

So idk seems like we are just fine in our evaluations

Maybe she thinks throwing as many bodies as possible is the right way? Instead of identifying qualities you like and not deviating from them?

JS has a type of qb he likes, and there’s only a few that actually fit the prototype. Drew Lock, Geno, Josh Allen, Mahomes, Russ are all the types he likes. Big, mobile, and a ridiculous arm.

What guy in SF is that?

We had shots at Mahomes and Allen. Richardson too. Not that we get picks that high for this year, the point is that we haven’t seriously tried to draft a qb in over 10 years.

Since 2017, Heaps, Boykin, Davis, Etling, McGough, Ahlers, gone within a year, as opposed to Beathard, Mullens, Lance And purdy

We did not have shots at them. Where was our shots?

Richardson was probably the guy but the colts took him right before us.

The team was trying to maintain a window, they’ve explained this many times when talking about the Russ era. With Geno they’ve only been through 2 drafts, one of those drafts they were all trash (although we’ve ended up trading for one of those bums) and then last year where all the good ones were taken before the fifth pick.

Saying we had shots at Allen & Mahomes is ridiculous. We weren’t ever picking in the top half those days to even be remotely close to those picks. You’re asking them to trade up for a QB when they had a franchise guy already and many more holes they trying to fill? Richardson was taken literally a pick before them. They had no chance at these guys. That’s roster malpractice

Your take feels like a Dave Softy Mahler level take here, maybe even worse.

Moving up 1 spot was not a big ask. Or if you didn’t want Richardson, Levi’s. Or Hendon Hooker, Aidan o Connell, Clayton Tune. Im not even asking for a qb1 in the mid rounds but developing a guy as a solid qb2 or even qb3

Last year, Carolina traded up to #1, Houston was #2, they traded back up with Arizona for #3, and Indianapolis took Richardson at #4. The only team ahead of us that would have dealt out was Arizona, our division rival, which would have fleeced us to do it. Our shot at Richardson ended when Houston beat Indy at the end of 2022.
