This. Though often cryptic, it was obvious how they felt about the guy.The OG Seahawks tried to tell us he was a phony bitch.
Nothing phony about playing your ass off, playing through injuries and being what Lynch just said yesterday as a warrior on the field. Lynch just came out and gave Wilson props for all he did. Worth checking out. His other stuff was goofy and its fair to criticize him for it but he was a monster for almost a decade for us.Everyone knew he was a phony, but he was our "winning" phony. His post game interviews were always cringe worthy, but he worked some magic on the field for the Hawks. I'm glad he's gone, but I also had a great time going to games during his "good" years.
I will add that Russ's way may also be a winning formula. One that he and Hackett couldn't hack, and one Pete wasn't interested in. I won't be shocked if next year Denver and Russ play much better. It comes off as phony because he has a history of saying "I never asked for X" while his Team3 would ask for it on his behalf. He can still be a hard worker and live by all his mottos but it's the two-faced "well I didn't say it directly" as some kind of cover is entirely disingenuous.
I love Russ (still do) for all the wins for the Seahawks but once it was clear that he didn't believe in Pete the die was cast.
Russ can still be a hard worker but there was a tipping point where he thought he knew better than Pete/John on how the team could win.
Or, Russ needed Pete more than anyone ever realized?I will add that Russ's way may also be a winning formula. One that he and Hackett couldn't hack, and one Pete wasn't interested in. I won't be shocked if next year Denver and Russ play much better.
I would bet money Wilson has a much better year next year. He may not be in the conversation for best in the league at his position like he was in Seattle but he will bounce back in a massive wayI will add that Russ's way may also be a winning formula. One that he and Hackett couldn't hack, and one Pete wasn't interested in. I won't be shocked if next year Denver and Russ play much better.
There's still some of his team on Twitter. You can spot them immediately in any thread. Shit's wild.Russ and his team spent too much time on Seahawk's Twitter.
The current pitch is that it's really Pete's fault for allowing Russ' head to get this big. There's still some of his team on Twitter. You can spot them immediately in any thread. Shit's wild.
Re Seahawks Twitter - it's fascinating that there's a huge swath who built a brand, accumulated followers, based solely on pushing anti-Pete, pro -Russ sentiments. What are they pushing now?
Amazing. The current pitch is that it's really Pete's fault for allowing Russ' head to get this big.
Or, and bare with me here, drafting to maintain a window (ie w/Russ) is entirely different than drafting to build one. JS and friends do deserve criticism for some of their drafts but, at least IMO, building windows through the draft is their specialty.So...Russ tried to get PC and JS fired and the way they respond is to draft two bookend tackles in the draft following his trade, one of the picks being what they got for him?
