I'm a Star Wars guy, so of course I'm excited for this. That said, this trailer doesn't particularly blow me away. But it's just a trailer, and the more I hear about this the more I like it on paper. Sounds like they've opted for practical sets and vfx whenever possible; for example, they did not shoot this series in the volume, which shows like The Mandalorian, Kenobi, & Ahsoka relied heavily on. Also, one of the show's writers had never before seen Star Wars. It's also our first time seeing the High Republic in live action so we're not necessarily reliant on the major themes of the Skywalker saga. That's all stuff that tells me that creator Leslye Headland is taking care to make sure this is a good show, not just checking the boxes that make it a Star Wars show. So here's to hoping!

Psshhh.... "just a trailer"....

This looks like the stuff I want. More grit and less dorkiness. Exploring the SW universe without the usual SW characters. There is so much to mine and I'm glad it's starting to get done. Andor is the goal and if this show gets anywhere close to reaching it I'll be a happy man.

I agree completely. There's just things about the aesthetics of the trailer that have me uncertain about the overall quality of the show. And ideas and concepts teased that make me wonder about the storytelling. I'm just curbing my expectations and hoping, like with Andor, to be pleasantly surprised.

You're growing cynical in your old age... Just as the Prophets of Star Wars Fandom have for told....

First 2 episodes were actually pretty good! Better than I'd expected. I'm not sure how much emotional investment I'll have for this. Hoping for a bit more connection to "the Skywalker saga" than has been lead on, because ultimately that's what Star Wars really is to me. Not really a fan of the prequel era and very little interest in either the Old Republic or the High Republic. But so far I like the storytelling and the mystery they've laid out for us.

Tying anything to the Skywalker Saga reeks of small universe syndrome. If the Star Wars Universe can't stand on it's own without constantly referencing one family, then maybe it really is time for it to die. Imagine if Star Trek had never tried to make The Next Generation or Deep Space Nine.

The further they get from Luke & them the closer they get to sci-fi on the CW. Which is fine if that's what people want but it's not for me.

That's why I loved TLJ so much when it came out; made the galaxy feel larger because it wasn't limiting being a force-user to a genetic condition.

But I've been saying it for years, Star Wars fans are the worst.

The best new Star Wars content has been Andor, and Rogue One but it's the least popular of all their new shows based upon how warm its reception has been.

I look forward to the new generation who grows up with the sequel trilogy loving it as much as this current gen loves the prequel trilogy. Gonna cause riots in the streets.

Star Wars will never be Sci-Fi on the CW. It's not even Sci-Fi, it's Space Fantasy.

Well I know that, I just feel like the more they expand the cheaper it starts to feel. They keep pumping out shows and introducing new eras and characters and it's starting to lose the charm and intrigue that made it special. That's just how I feel about it.

Then fundamentally, you want it to die. Because more Skywalker Saga stuff won't help.

I just want them to make good stuff. And I'm not a fan of the Jedi & Sith as George Lucas hashed them out in the prequels. I prefer the mystique and intrigue of the OT & ST.

And I disagree with you completely. There's so much stuff they could do that's Skywalker adjacent. Andor is a perfect example. And it's the best thing Disney has done so far. I will take stuff like that all day everyday over anything old or high republic. I'll keep watching and if it's good I'll like it but it'll always be second tier to me.

Andor has NOTHING to do with the Skywalker Saga, aside from being set during the Galactic Civil War. If you want the Galactic Civil War, then say that. The Skywalker Saga is not the same thing.

Why are you being so hostile haha. I said I wanted something with "a bit more connection to the Skywalker saga." I know Palpatine is emperor and Vader is out there hunting down Jedi while Luthen & Mon are trying to start a rebellion. It's directly connected, even if it's done subtly. I enjoy that.
