Why the pessimism about losing playoffs?

My advice the Seahawks would be to protect your key players in Week 17 and hope the Cardinals do you a favour. Getting to the playoffs when both the Rams and Seahawks finish 10-7 is a pipe dream. Losing key personnel against the Bears would be a disaster.
My advice to you is to keep your two bit British takes on American Football to yourself.

Here's the latest playoff lowdown. Flv2, while a British punter, may be somewhat right, though I don't think you should ever rest starters. The important game this week is Arz Rams. If Rams win it's basically over, regardless of what happens tonight. But if they lose it gets interesting regardless of what we do tonight. If we both lose, it comes down to the final game for the division. If we win that game both teams will be 9 - 8. Tie breakers are head to head and then Division record. Rams division record will be 3-3, and ours will be 4-2. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Go Hawks, er Go Arz.

Unfortunately even if they win with only six points, that won’t cut it next week even if the rams lose on Saturday.

Not true. If the Rams lose to the Cards they have to win the last game to take the division. If the Rams lose on Sat, both will be 9-7. Winner of the final game takes the division.

Now if the Rams win on Sat, they will be 10- 6. Then if we beat them on the final game it will be tied at 10-7, but that's the case where Strength of Victory comes into play and the Rams will most likely have that.

We have almost no chance of winning against the rams if we can only put up six points though. Geno remains less than 100 percent, for sure.

7% solution? I think Geno's more of an issue than that, but he's not all the problems. Number one issue is Oline. Protection needs to be better and open more holes for the running game. Change that and our offense, even with Grubb, would be fine.

On Grubb, it's so hard to tell watching on TV why Geno holds the ball so long. No one open? No check down? Geno gets brain lock? Bad play calling. One thing about watching Mahomes, aside from being a great athlete, he never panics. He goes through his reads and if protection breaks down, he knows exactly where the check down is and he dumps it off. Now, is that because he's just that much better than Geno or is it because Reid designs his plays so there is always somewhere to go with the ball. Grubbs plays seem very basic and he or the coaches, or the players do not know how to get blocking out on a bubble screen. Hate that play when we run it, but it sure seems to work for other teams.

I don't know the answers, but I know Geno drives me crazy. One play he throws a perfect looking pass, and the next he takes a 8 yard sack pushing us out of field goal range or throws into trouble.

As for what scoring 6 points against the Bears says about how we'll do against the Rams, I'd say not much. Offense has been hit and miss all year, so who knows what will show up. All I know is Jan 4th or 5th will be much more fun if Arz beats the Rams. How's that for genius?

From Florio…

If the Rams lose to the Cardinals on Saturday, the Seahawks will be playing for the division title in Week 18. That will also be the case if the Rams win and don’t get a combined 3.5 wins from the Bengals, Bills, Browns, Vikings, Commanders, and 49ers this weekend.

Yep, that's my understanding as well. though the likely hood that those 6 teams do not get 4 wins over the next two weeks is slim to not gonna happen no way no how not ever.

The defense is trending toward being elite next year. All the offense has to do is be above average, which they haven’t been—more of the losses have been on the offense. They collectively know it, so what you get is frustrated in the moment mistakes like you described with Geno and the o line. What you get is DK Metcalf almost getting the first foul toward disqualification. Plus that return by the bear on what was originally ruled a fumble touchdown.

It’s bad discipline solely on grubb’s unit.

Rams are Div Champs!

Well, they are not yet, technically.

For the sake of next year, I want us to go out and punch em in the mouth even if we are eliminated. I want them to be the exact opposite of the 49ers during their Rams game when they still had a chance. The 49ers looked throughout like they were quitting with one player walking off. Their corner Mooney ward is taking off this weeks practice for a personal matter after ripping the player who quit.

Whatever happens, let’s at least show fight.
