Lions sign Kyle Peko to active roster, Greg Joseph to practice squad

Defensive lineman Kyle Peko was elevated from the practice squad to play in the Lions' first game of the season, but the team won't have to make the same move to get Peko in the lineup this weekend.

The kicker market is the inverse of the quarterback market. Thr only other team doing this is using the international exemption.

If the K might not be available and you won't know until 2 hours before the game it's best to have a replacement on the PS that you can elevate. Signing him now rather than at the weekend allows him to get used to working with the new holder. During the pandemic most teams had a K, P, and LS on the PS just in case they lost someone. It could be an injury or some other personal issue.
